Family RnR is pleased to partner with Proyecto Asis in Costa Rica to bring you and your family an unforgettable volunteer vacation! Through Proyecto Asis, you can learn Spanish in the rain forest, and make a difference by participating in the environmental education programs especially designed for the children! By offering homestays, the whole family will get a true taste of the culture and cuisine of our unique country, as well as be immersed in the Spanish language, helping each child to gain interest in foreign languages which are so important in this day and age. Before returning home, each student will be given a certificate of participation in the program. Participation in the Spanish program is not available for kids under four years old, however they are welcome to enjoy of our ecological reserve and have fun sharing with the host family.
The Asís Family Program includes:

Family wildlife volunteering holiday in Kenya
A unique opportunity for your entire family to help wild African elephants. Away from the hustle of
Nairobi and crowded central safari routes, this experience of eastern Kenya is one of the most inviting
combinations for any family travelling to the region.
Minimum age: To participate children must be 10 years or over.
During the programme, days 5-8, you will work within the sanctuary, an initiative set up by wildlife experts;
the Kenya Wildlife Service, Camp Kenya and the local community, on several aspects of the Mwaluganje
Elephant Sanctuary conservation programme. Duties may include elephant identification research, herd behaviour
and welfare, making elephant dung paper, and many other tasks involving the restoration and maintenance of the
sanctuary.
Activities include game drives, bush walks, volunteering at Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary and optional
coastal activities.
Family volunteering in Honduras
Join this project and live in the ancient colonial town of Copan Ruinas, working with the indigenous communities
nearby. This unique project enables families to learn Spanish whilst experiencing first-hand a new culture,
by interacting with the community on construction projects. Assist in the building of energy efficient stoves
for cleaner air and less wood consumption, promote agriculture to provide harvests for one family for one year,
or help with livestock rearing. We have, along with leaders of the indigenous communities, developed short-term
manual projects to improve the standard of living for hundreds of indigenous families in rural Honduras.
20 hours of one-on-one Spanish classes (based on skill level) are included in the price to help all the family
converse in their new environment.
Also included in your fee is the funding needed to successfully complete whichever project you choose to do
within the week, whether this be bricks, cement, seeds, fertilisers, tools, extra local labour, wood, wire
fencing, corrugated iron, livestock etc. The idea is that you will have funded, worked on and completed each
individual project within a week, aimed to improve the standard of living of one family.
Parents and children will have their own bedrooms in semi basic, but comfortable accommodation living with a
local family. All amenities will be included, such as washing facilities and 3 meals a day. Minimum age: 12 years
Guatemala family volunteering holiday
Family volunteers who join this programme have the unique opportunity of being immersed in one of several
indigenous communities situated near Antigua Guatemala. We, along with leaders of the indigenous communities,
have developed manual projects to improve the standard of living for hundreds of Indigenous families in rural
Guatemala. Whilst learning Spanish and experiencing a new culture, families will be assisting building energy
efficient stoves for cleaner air and less wood consumption, promoting agriculture and increasing harvests and
livestock rearing.
20 hours of one-on-one Spanish classes (based on skill level) are included in the price to help all the family
converse in their new environment. Included in the programme, is a half-day guided adventure, which could be
biking, rock-climbing or hiking. Also included in your fee is the funding needed to successfully complete

Your chance to really get up close and personal with these gentle giants in their jungle habitat. There is also
time to discover Bangkok, explore the jungle, and float down the river on bamboo rafts.

During the programme on days 4-6, you will be assisting the mahouts (elephant trainers) at the
'Elephant Nature Park’. You will become familiar with elephant commands and experience a hands on
approach to feeding, bathing and observing the elephants close up. Learning about the reforestation of
elephant habitats and herbal cures for treating elephant disease, you’ll be taken out on an exciting overnight
elephant safari where you will see the elephants in their natural environment.
Activities include volunteer programme at the Elephant Nature Park, klong (canal) tour, jungle walk, bamboo
rafting and optional swimming.
